IEBC Falls Apart

A few days after the resignation of the three IEBC commissioners Consolata Nkatha Maina, Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya, parliament has revived the tactics of selecting a panel to recruit new officials to replace the current sitting office.
The majority leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale has written a letter to the Justice and Legal Affair Committe chaired by William Cheptumo asking it to put in place plans to remove the two commissioners and their chair Wafula Chebukati.

Speaking on Tuesday, Duale said that the commission had failed in its work and the chair Wafula Chebukati is to be blamed.
In addition, Duale disagrees with politicians on nomination of new commissioners saying it will interfere with their work as an independent body.
Issues in the IEBC emerged after Kenya's supreme court annulled the results of the August 8th 2017 presidential elections citing irregularities and ordered a repeat of it within 60 days.
