On Wednesday morning the country received shocking news of the
passing on of the former 100metre hurdles world champion Nicholas Bett. The
incident was confirmed by his family and the Nandi police boss.

The 28 year old Bett, died in a road accident in Lessos
Nandi County. It is said that he lost control of his vehicle after hitting a
bump and rolled along the Eldoret-Kapsabet road while arriving home from
Nairobi.
Bett met his death two days after returning from Asaba
Nigeria where he participated in the concluded African Athletics Championships.
In 2015, Bett became the first Kenyan to win a gold medal in
the 400m hurdles at the 15th IAAF World Championship in Beijing.
